Easy Summer Photography Tips for Every Mom
Hey Mommas!!
Summer is here and that means lots of memories to be made and pictures to be taken. As a veteran mom of 19 years, and a photographer of 15 years, I have a little tip for you to make those summer captures a little brighter and crisper. One you don’t even have to leave home for!
We know that we all want that perfect 4th of July photo every year, right? This is a great trick to use before you leave for your summer activities, and everyone is fresh and happy. I would not recommend trying this after spending all day at the beach… lol.
Stand, or sit your subject in front of an open door. You will stand on the porch/front walkway and shoot IN towards your subject. The light streaming in from the door (and open window would work too) will be mostly blocked by the porch, but it will filter in and provide sparkly catchlights, and even, natural light on the face. And the interior of your home will magically darken because the light filtering in won’t reach that far. This will work for any smart phone as well.. just make sure you tap on your subject’s face on your screen so your phone camera knows where to focus.
This will work for 1-4 subjects. You will just have to make sure everyone is at the same relative height, so the light casts evenly over everyone.
And bonus tip: if you tell your little subject(s) to try their hardest not to laugh.. it works well to get a great genuine smile.
Happy Summer Photography, Mommas!!
