I wasn’t going to decorate for fall. All of my decor is packed in my Christmas bins. Every year, when we go through the bins for Christmas, I realize the cute pumpkin candle holders and such were completely forsaken. I just don’t think about the decoration part of this season.. though I loooooove every bit of it. The spices, the smells, the colors, the coats and boots, the pumpkin everything’s.
I decided to throw caution to the wind and set a simple centerpiece for our table. It brings me great joy to see my favorite vibrant color every time I walk into that space.
Here’s the breakdown.
Pumpkin Tree – 6.99 at Trader Joe’s
Mini Pumpkins – 2/$1 at Sprouts
Tealights – already had
Green Platter – already had
Legumes – $1/pound, with 3 pounds purchased at Sprouts
So for around $12, I was able to bring a little fall cheer into our main room. I used a square vase I already had, trimmed the pumpkin tree so it could drink up the water, and added 3 different colored legumes (green split pea, yellow split pea, and red lentil) to some clear drinking glasses. I arranged everything on my big green platter (from Walmart last year for $10) and I try to remember to light the tealights whenever I can. I was also able to use the legumes for another set of 3 glasses for the bathroom.
Although, I will tell you.. if you have a 9 year old Miss who is very curious, you may or may not find the legumes in every crack and crevice of the bathroom. And they may or may not be completely mixed together, instead of separated into color. And, some may or may not have made their way down the sink drain, proving it to be clogged.
But, our house has a bit of fall color, so we shall be glad for that.
