If you are going to be my friend (and I hope all 7 of you are.. wink), you will need to know about my love affair with tea. Ever since my naturopath told me coffee was not my friend, I have jumped ship and made tea my bff. And, frankly, we are really really tight, me and tea. Yep.
In the fall, one can find me sipping on Ruby Red Spicy Chai.. rooibos tea with cinnamon, nutmeg, and all manner of pumpkin-y flavors. Yum!
In the winter, one can find me sipping Candy Cane Tea.. green tea with vanilla and peppermint. It literally tastes like a candy cane in a cup.
In the spring and summer, one can find me with a perpetual jug of Starbucks Green Iced Tea.. I love the stuff.
But I am one that likes to mix it up a bit too. I love Starbucks Chai Lattes, but my body doesn’t like the massive amounts of sugar included. I am always searching for yummy, quick latte recipes that I can use for the kiddos and I.
Enter Trader Joe’s Organic Ginger Pear Tea. SWOON!! Very pear-y, slightly spicy with a ginger kick, and oh so good.
So I thought I would make a summer-y latte with the perfect summer tea flavors.
Boil some filtered water. Yes, filtered.. it really does make a big difference in the end. After your tea has boiled, let it cool for a few minutes, and then pour in a heat safe mug, with your ginger tea bag.
Now comes the latte part. I added a few drops of liquid Stevia (no sugar for me), but you could use raw honey, or organic sugar. Just mix with the hot tea so it dissolves first. And then, add a splash of Organic Heavy Cream.. Yes, it is a good fat!
And then pour into a tall glass filled to the brim with ice.
Iced Chai from Starbucks, Venti, with low fat milk – 332 calories/$4.05

Take that Starbizzle. 🙂
