Sometimes plans don’t work out the way we want, and mommas need to stay close to their bed or couch until baby arrives.
That doesn’t mean you can’t get a sweet collection of moments captured for your client. In this series of photos, I went to my client’s house and had her do as little as possible.
How To #1: Use the client’s house and light to your advantage. I utilized her big sliding door (that was just by her couch) and snapped a few side profile shots with her and hubby, and then we made her sit back down. We also stayed mostly on her gorgeous neutral couch for her and baby’s safety.
How To #2: In the couch image below, there was a mirror to the side that we had to move. Don’t be afraid to ask your client’s to arrange things a little bit so you can get a better picture. It not only would have been insane to try and photoshop the mirror out, but had I left it in, it would have cluttered up the serene image I was going for.
How To #3: Bring family to momma. We had big brother and Dad snuggle up to Mom on the couch instead of making her go to them.
How To #4: Keep your session quick and simple. All of my maternity session are “mini’s” for a reason. Most pregnant mommas do not want to take 2 hours to document their bump. Some do, for sure. But it hasn’t been my experience. My ladies are super glad that we zoom through the session in about 30 minutes, and get at least 10 baby bump images for them to remember.
