I love experiences. I love to create them, feel them, experience them. Can you experience an experience? I think you can, and I think I live for that moment. It’s the sanguine in me.. always looking for that fun. I love fun!
These experiences don’t have to be grand or expensive or huge. Like..
…the time my husband took me to see Natalie Grant sing at Saddleback, and then because we have Disneyland passes, we drove over to see fireworks. Free except for the gas. Oh, and the delightful dinner at Cheescake Factory.
…the time we gathered a group of friends and bundled up to walk Starlight Circle. Twinkly lights. Happy faces. Rosy cheeks from the cold. Hot cocoa and kettle corn. We must repeat this experience this year.. Who’s in??
…the time(s) we spend snuggling on our bed. Both of the kiddos join us and they wrestle and try to beat Dad up and I laugh and laugh, and make fun of his crazy breath. Absolutely free, and absolutely life giving to our family unit. Well.. maybe not for the hubs, but for us?? Totally fun. 😉
…the time we spend together as a family. All quietly reading in the living room. All watching a Netflix movie together. All dancing in the car to some bumpin’ music. To be honest, the dancing part is mostly me.. but I will never stop trying to get the rest of them to shake it!
…the time(s) when one of my kiddos are sick. Feeling a bit under the weather, so snuggles and blankets and warm comfort food are the order of the day.
Like today, Miss H has had an upset tummy for a few days, and developed a little cough. Nothing serious, but a day of rest was needed. She requested oatmeal for breakfast, with Paul Blart: Mall Cop as entertainment. I happily obliged.
I like to toast my “certified gluten free” oats in a dry saucepan for about 2-3 minutes before adding the water. It gives the oats such great flavor. Finish cooking oats according to the package directions.
For our Gluten Free Pumpkin Spiced Oats, I make 1 cup of dry oats with 2 cups of lightly salted water. After they are cooked, mix in 1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree, a drizzle of raw honey, a scoop of extra virgin coconut oil, a splash of vanilla, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, a handful of walnuts, and a dab of butter.
This is a super food oats recipe if there ever was one. Click on the ingredients above to see the many benefits. Little Miss will be feeling better in no time. 🙂
Happy Oat-ing.
